Beware of dog!
Upon entering a country store, the stranger saw a sign on the glass door saying, "Danger! Beware of Dog!" In side he noticed a harmless old hound dog asleep on the floor.
"Is that," the stranger asked, "the dog folks are suppose to beware of?"
"Yep,: the clerk replied, "That's the dog."
The stranger couldn't help but be amused. "That certainly doesn't;t look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world would you post that sign?"
"Because," the clerk replied, "before I posed that sign, people kept tripping over him."
